Gas Safety Certificates for Landlords and Homeowners

Landlords

It’s the law that you must have a Gas Safe registered engineer safety check all your gas appliances every year. After these checks are done you get a Landlord Gas Safety Record, also called the Gas Safety Certificate.

Homeowners

There is no legal requirement for homeowners to have annual safety checks. However, you should still get some paperwork after any work you have done by a Gas Safe engineer. This won’t be as detailed as the Landlord Gas Safety Record.

Also, when you sell your home many solicitors ask for the certificates of gas work carried out by an engineer at your house or flat. This can include boiler and other gas appliance services.
